The best time to act was back then. Second best is now.

Time to make some lifestyle changes in keeping with a new story: public good (or luxury, if you prefer), private sufficiency. This flips on its head the previous story focused on private luxuries; no more playing the metaphorical slot machine to be one of the few that can have all that. A meaningful life can be had without playing that game.

If you're a keep-up-with-the-Jones' type, review your actions and consider unhooking those compulsions.

If you're like me and hyper-focused on particular hobbies, consider assessing the embodied energy, the opportunity cost, and other, lower-impact hobbies from which you might derive the same benefit.

If not already familiar, look up mutual aid, participatory democracy, and go out and talk with your neighbors; these are people you'll be helping recover from whatever stressor is next (and perhaps the ongoing ones), and reciprocally so, them for you.

I don't have all the answers, ell oh ell, these are just things that I'm choosing to do and which are working well for a subset of people in my neighborhood.

What else do you suggest for the next chapter of the human story?
